- Summary
- The Florentine Craftsman Collection contains trade literature and photographic images compiled by the Florentine Craftsmen firm of Long Island City, New York, dating from approximately 1915 to 1976. Most of the manufacturers' literature--including catalogs, fliers, and brochures--deals with outdoor furniture and ornaments, statuary, and iron work fixtures. Some of the materials relate specifically to product lines by Florentine Craftsmen, though many illustrate the work of other manufacturers of outdoor furnishings and ornaments.
- Biographical/Historical note
- Florentine Craftsmen was established in New York City in 1915 as a manufacturer of hand-crafted garden statuary and ornaments, fountains, outdoor furniture, planters and other garden items. According to company literature, the product line was based on original designs and molds developed by Florentine Craftsmen founder Vincent Primavera, an Italian émigré and artisan. Acquired by Kenneth Lynch & Sons, Inc. in 2011, Florentine Craftsmen continues to put out different product lines of garden furnishings and ornaments.
