- Biographical Note
- Jane M. Simpson (1888-1969) of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, was the photographer of most of the slides in this series. She was involved with various garden-based community initiatives including support of the Detroit branch of the Woman's National Farm and Garden Association and the Grosse Pointe War Memorial.

- Scope and Content
- The Jane M. Simpson Photographs series within The Garden Club of America Collection consists of approximately (150) 35mm slides (1939-1952 and undated) and one reel of 16mm color film (c. 1942) photographed and compiled by Jane M. Simpson of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. The slides and film document various private and public gardens and sites across the United States including Simpson's own garden. According to the donor, "Jane Simpson took all the photos except those that are marked on the back."
