General
Lois Poinier's design work for this project encompassed the entire exterior of the house. The "front" of the house included a walkway leading from the garage and parking area to the entrance door, an area defined by two L-shaped miniature stone walls and featuring two fast-growing but invasive Callery pear trees. The other side of the house, with its sweeping views of woodlands and distant hills, featured two terraces linked by stone steps and bordered by stone walls. The upper terrace was grass, while the smaller, lower one was of pea gravel and featured defined garden beds. Images show the site at various stages of development.
Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer, ca. 1969-70) and the Hummel family (former owners).
